Persian is language of thought, culture, history: Iran

The Persian language symbolizes the expression of thought, culture and history, Iranian envoy to Algeria says.

Reza Ameri said during a meeting at the University of Algiers in the Algerian capital city on Wednesday that the Persian language is “the second language of the Muslim World.”

Ameri told a group of Persian Language students that Iranians have written scientific documents in Persian since long ago, which makes it more important to learn Persian.

Persians and Arabians have had peaceful coexistence since Islam entered Iran in 651 AD (30 AH), the Iranian official said, adding that the intermixture of the Iranian and Islamic cultures has led to the emergence of colossal Iranian figures throughout history, including Hafez, Sa’di, Avicenna and others.

Other attendees at the Algerian event included Professor of Persian Language at the University of Algiers Javad Dehqanian and other professors of Russian language and philosophy.

Dehqanian, for his part, highlighted the emphatic support of Persian language and literature by Algerian students.

The Persian language has provided a bridge between cultures in the West and East as well as the Arab world.

Persian is considered the second Islamic language due to its notable contributions to human civilization in general and the Islamic one in particular and due to the outstanding amount of Islamic traditional heritage written, thus conserved, in it.

The Persian language is a language of literature, art, science and human tradition. It has, as well, the character of being easy to learn, to influence, and to be influenced particularly when linked to Arabic.
